April Showers

The old adage that it always rains in April has taken on a new meaning for me this year. Three days into the month I had my first car accident ever. It was their fault, but they gave me bad insurance information. Thankfully my insurance company tracked down the owner and got their real insurance info. The only problem is that I already filed the claim through State Farm, so I had to pay everything I normally would through State Farm and I have to sit back as they go after all my money.

The Monday after my accident, I was relieved of my office job. I was already in the process of looking for another job, and they knew that. I just didn't want to leave right then. One of my problems with that job was that they didn't pay my taxes...so as I did my taxes, I learned I owe $403 to the federal government.

For most of the month, I drove around a Chevy Silverado I rented from Enterprise...not the best vehicle for the gas prices. When my car was done, I was ready to get back into the Bonneville. When I picked it up, I noticed my ashtray was empty. When I dropped it off, the ashtray had about $1 in change and my Indiana lapel pin that a good friend gave me a few years ago. Then I checked my checking account last Friday and noticed that Enterprise withdrew the entire $300 deposit one day and returned about $250 of it the next day. The problem is that I didn't have $300 in my account and about 6 transactions tried to clear between their withdraw and deposit. And Bank of America charges through the nose for overdraft.

Let's hope May has some flowers.
